to release on December 25
Following a triumphant hattrick of national awards for their acclaimed films ‘Harishchandrachi Factory,’ ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi,’ and ‘Vaalvi,’ as well as the resounding success of their recent release ‘Nach Gha Ghuma,’ writer-director Paresh Mokashi and producer Madhugandha Kulkarni have announced their new film, ‘Mukkam Post Bombilwadi-1942 Eka Bombchi Bomb’. The announcement was made today with the release of the film’s motion poster. The film is slated to hit theaters on December 25, 2024.
The film industry is abuzz with anticipation following the national award win for ‘Vaalvi’ just a few day before the new film announcement. The success of this year’s ‘Nach Gha Ghuma,’ which became a blockbuster not only in Maharashtra but across the country and even internationally, has only added to the excitement surrounding Mokashi and Kulkarni’s latest venture.
The motion poster offers a glimpse into the film’s setting, indicating a pre-independence British era backdrop. One striking scene features a character dressed in attire reminiscent of Hitler, surrounded by the aftermath of a bomb blast, suggesting a satirical take on historical events. True to Paresh Mokashi’s style, the film promises to be a blend of subtle satire and engaging storytelling.
Written and directed by Paresh Mokashi, ‘Mukkam Post Bombilwadi’ is produced by Madhugandha Kulkarni, Vivek Films, and Maysabha Karamnuk. With a proven track record of successful and impactful films, Mokashi and Kulkarni are set to deliver yet another memorable cinematic experience.
Speaking about the film, director Paresh Mokashi said, “The play Mukkam Post Bombilwadi was so well received by the audience that it was a shock for me! The international affairs shape up in a small village like Bombilwadi, and the outcome of the Second World War revolves around it. This farcical story will give our lungs a good amount of exercise! We have started working on it—just wait for it!”
Producer Madhugandha Kulkarni said, “I was left in splits when I first watched the drama Mukkam Post Bombilwadi. Even then, I thought that a film on this topic would be a fantastic idea. Whenever I went for the promotion of our other films, I would be asked by audiences of all age groups to bring back Mukkam Post Bombilwadi. They would recall how the play made them laugh immensely. I was surprised to discover how people remembered the play even after so many years and how much it entertained them.”
She further added, “I then realized the need to adapt the same script into a film while introducing elements that were missing in the drama. After all, theatre, as a medium has its own shortcomings that can be overcome in film by taking the humour to the next level. Even Paresh, as writer and director has not adapted the play in its original form. He has added more humor to the film by transforming it into cinematic form. I can surely say that the film has become 1000 times more humorous after the changes. It’s also different and entertaining, with fantastic characters woven into the story. We sometimes laughed so hard during the script readings that we had to stop midway. I’m confident this will be a burst of laughter and will be well received by the audience.”
Bharat Shitole of Vivek Films, the producer, expressed his excitement about producing such a fantastic film as their debut venture. “We have seen the dramas and films by Paresh and Madhugandha, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to produce this film based on the drama. This is our first film, and it is shaping up beautifully. The story is rooted in our own soil and features international characters and their encounters. We have watched the play, and the humor and farce are preserved in the film, taking the comedy to an entirely new level. We are honored to have this film as our first production and are confident it will be well received by the audience.”
