On September 6, Friday, the Futala Lake Conservation Committee presented Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singal with a 101-kg eco-friendly alum Ganesh idol, aiming to raise environmental awareness during Ganesh Chaturthi.
Dr. Singal emphasized that alum idols dissolve easily in water and help reduce pollution, unlike traditional plaster of Paris (POP) idols. He encouraged Nagpurians to adopt these eco-friendly idols to protect local water bodies and reduce the environmental impact during idol immersion. By using alum idols, citizens can also help lower government expenses on water purification and contribute to a sustainable future.
Committee members, including founder secretary Anil Awasthi and idol maker Suraj Sharma, were present at the event.
