In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, two coaches of the Somnath Express derailed early Saturday morning at 5:50 AM. The incident occurred approximately 150 meters from Jabalpur Railway Station while the Indore-Jabalpur Express (Train No: 22191) was traveling at a slow speed.
Harshit Shrivastava, Chief Public Relations Officer of West Central Railway, confirmed that the derailment happened as the train was approaching platform number 6. The two front coaches came off the tracks about 100-150 meters from the platform’s end. Despite the derailment, no casualties have been reported, and all passengers are safe.
This accident follows the Sabarmati Express derailment on August 17, where 20 coaches went off the tracks near Kanpur, allegedly due to a boulder placed on the tracks. Additionally, on July 30, 18 carriages of the Howrah-Mumbai CSMT Mail derailed near Jamshedpur, resulting in two deaths and 20 injuries.
