In a late-night incident on Sunday, the son of a senior political leader was involved in a major accident in Nagpur, allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The accident, which occurred around 12:30 AM, saw the high-speed Audi crash into several vehicles, including a two-wheeler and four cars, as it sped from Kachipura to Lokmat Square near Centre Point Hotel.
Eyewitnesses reported that the white Audi was being driven at nearly 150 km/h, with the politician’s friends inside the car. The reckless driving continued, with the vehicle also striking a two-wheeler at RBI Square, creating panic in the area. Despite the magnitude of the crash, no casualties were reported.
This incident has drawn comparisons to the Ramjhula Mercedes accident that occurred in Nagpur earlier in February, where two people were killed when a speeding Mercedes collided on Ramjhula bridge. The February tragedy raised widespread concerns about reckless driving by influential individuals. Sunday’s Audi crash has reignited similar concerns, reminding many of the dangerous consequences of high-speed driving in urban areas.
The Sitabuldi police have registered a case against the driver and are questioning eyewitnesses to gather further details. An investigation is underway to determine the full scope of the incident, with authorities looking into whether lessons from the Ramjhula accident were overlooked in this latest crash.
