Following heavy rainfall on Monday evening, an orange alert has been issued for Nagpur, with moderate to heavy showers expected on Tuesday, September 10. The city has recorded a total of 956.3 mm of rainfall so far this season, according to the weather department.
After a sunny morning, the weather shifted around 4 pm on Monday, bringing heavy rain along with thunder and lightning. The downpour, lasting about 45 minutes, resulted in 5 mm of rainfall being recorded by 5:30 pm.
In the Vidarbha region, Gondia district saw the highest rainfall, recording 53 mm, while Chandrapur received 13 mm, Bhamhapuri 7 mm, and Gadchiroli 6 mm.
The current weather patterns are driven by a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, which is pushing moisture into Central India. This system is expected to move towards North Chhattisgarh via Odisha over the next 24 hours, bringing further rainfall to Nagpur and nearby areas.
