The Ministry of Urban Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has once again extended the deadline for the Smart City project, marking the third extension. On Tuesday, Saumya Sharma, the Chief Executive Officer of Smart City, said that the remaining projects in Nagpur are now scheduled for completion by March 31, 2025.
Under the Smart City project, two development plans were scheduled to be completed in two distinct phases.
The first phase of the Smart City project focuses on smart and safe city initiatives, while the second phase addresses area-based development plans. In the first phase, efforts included installing 3,600 smart CCTV cameras across the city and implementing 17 other schemes. The installation of the smart CCTV cameras has been successfully completed.
Sharma noted that several projects, including the e-bus initiative, biomining, e-governance, and upgraded traffic signals, have been successfully implemented as part of the Smart City program.
The Smart City project is worth Rs 1,000 crores. The project has been extended till March 31, 2025. ₹741.63 crore have been received from the Central government
