The Nagpur Municipal Corporation will be opening 14 new Ayushyman Aarogya Mandir Urban Health and Wellness Centers, complementing the 40 existing centers in the city. From October 2023 to August 2024, these centers have provided free healthcare services to over one lakh patients, including 4,453 pregnant women.
“These centers will be beneficial for the public and help strengthen the health facilities,” stated Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari, who is leading the efforts to operationalize the Aarogya Mandir.
Anchal Goyal, Additional Municipal Commissioner, is overseeing the efforts of the Health Department team, which is led by Dr. Deepak Selokar, Medical Health Officer, and Dr. Narendra Bahirwar, Additional Medical Health Officer.
A total of 113 Aarogya Mandir centers have been sanctioned for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, with 40 currently operational. Fourteen new Aarogya Mandir centers are in development and will soon be available to the public. Additionally, there are plans to convert eight more municipal properties into Aarogya Mandir centers in the near future.
Various sercvices available free of charge at Aarogya Mandir include pregnancy and childbirth care; neonatal and infant health care (Immunization); child and adolescent health services; family planning; management of contagious diseases with National health programmes; control and management of non-contagious diseases; screening of ENT problems; basic oral health care; geriatric and palliative health care; and emergency services and other facilities.
