The Maharashtra Government has announced the public holiday of Eid-e-Milad on September 18 instead of September 17. Both the communities decided to avail the Eid holiday on September 18, as September 17 is Anant Chaturdashi Day. The decision was made to maintain communal harmony.
Mumbai, its suburbs, and some districts decided to take out the Eid procession on September 18 instead of September 17. The government declared public holiday for Eid-e-Milad on September 18. The district collectors have been allowed to decide based on the situation under their jurisdiction.
