In a move to address Nagpur’s worsening traffic conditions, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Archit Chandak has been appointed to lead the city’s Traffic Branch. The appointment was announced by Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Singal on Wednesday evening.
DCP Shashikant Satav, who previously headed the Traffic Branch, has been transferred to the Economic Offence Wing (EOW), while Chandak, who had held additional charge of the Traffic Branch during the winter session, achieved significant improvements during that time. As a result, he has now been officially entrusted with leading the Traffic Branch full-time.
Additionally, Lohit Matani, recently transferred to Nagpur, has assumed charge of Zone 1. Despite previous directives from the police chief to resolve traffic-related issues, progress had been slow. However, under Chandak’s leadership, the city saw marked improvements, leading to his formal appointment.
