The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Nagpur Crime Branch apprehended a drug peddler in possession of 713 grams of ganja, valued at Rs 14,260, in the Telipura area, Burad Galli, on Wednesday night.
The accused, identified as Nayan Santosh Meshram (21), a resident of Lohapul, Sitabuldi, originally from Chiakhalgaon, Yavatmal, was caught red-handed while attempting to sell the illegal substance on the street. During interrogation, Meshram disclosed the involvement of another suspect, Sheikh Shakil Sheikh Salim (39), a resident of Burad Galli, Telipura, who remains at large.
The police have registered a case against both individuals under Sections 8(C), 20(B), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Nayan Meshram has been handed over to Sitabuldi police for further investigation, while efforts to apprehend Shakil are ongoing.
