Motorists traveling on Amravati Road can now breathe a sigh of relief as the Public Works Department (PWD) opened the newly-constructed Wadi Flyover in Nagpur to traffic on Wednesday, without waiting for a formal inauguration.
On Wednesday, the Public Works Department (PWD) informed the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court about the opening of the flyover for traffic and stated that a formal inauguration would occur after approval from the ministers. PWD officials had previously told the High Court on August 27 that the flyover would be opened to traffic on September 15.
The Wadi area had faced traffic chaos for years during the flyover’s construction, and residents believe its opening will provide much-needed relief for motorists. The 2.4 km long Wadi Flyover was part of the Rs 478 crore Amravati Road Traffic Improvement Project (ARTIP), which also included the RTO flyover on Amravati Road.
