A 24-year-old man, Akash Krushna Nishad, lost his life in a tragic accident on Wednesday evening after falling from a Bolero pickup van near the Smruti Nagar overbridge on the Saoner-Nagpur Highway. The incident occurred while returning from the Ganesh visarjan ceremony at Koradi, where Akash and others had participated with members of the Shitala Mata Balganesh Utsav Mandal, Bajaj Nagar.
The victim, a resident of Danteshwari Nagar Slums, Bajaj Nagar, was seated in the back of the Bolero (MH/31/FC/7759) along with his friend, 17-year-old Tejas Santosh Nishad. The two were riding with their legs hanging outside the vehicle when the accident took place around 5:30 pm.
According to police sources, the driver of the pickup, identified as Gulshan Verma, made a sharp turn to avoid a motorcycle that suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle.
