Looking into the faith of Hindu families in using ‘Gangajal’ the Postal Department has started marketing it through its post offices across the country. Bottled ‘Gangajal’ (Water from the Ganga River) will be available at post offices.
At present ‘Gangajal’ is available at main post offices, and soon will be distributed through all the post offices in the country.
A large number of companies sell bottled ‘Gangajal’ in small bottles. It is never checked whether the water available in the market is genuine ‘Gangajal’ or not. The post offices are expected to make available the genuine ones, as it relates to the faith of the people in India. The water from the river is considered sacred and never gets contaminated even when stored for years.
Several researches were carried out on the water from the Ganga River for its ability to remain away from contamination for years together. Religious literature speaks about the boon to the holy river for washing the sins of people, but to remain clean.
