South East Central Railway Sports Association (SECRSA) is set to organize the All India Inter Railway Football Tournament, starting from September 23 at the Motibagh ground, Bilaspur.
During a press conference on Saturday, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Namita Tripathi announced that eight teams will compete in the knock-out tournament, which will run until September 28. More than 250 participants, including renowned international players such as Sangram Mukherjee, Ashim Biswas, Dipankar Roy, Mehtab Hossain, Abhishek Das, and Fardin Ali Molla, are expected to be key attractions throughout the event.
“This is a special occasion as SECR last hosted the league stage of the same tournament in 2013. After 11 years, we have once again been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing the knock-out matches,” said Tripathi.
The tournament’s opening ceremony will take place on Sunday at 4:30 p.m., followed by the inaugural match between North East Railway (NER) and Eastern Railway (ER). A second match will be held at 7 p.m. on the same day. The semi-finals are scheduled for September 25 and 26, with the final match set for September 28 at 6 p.m. The third-place play-off will be held on September 27 at 6:30 p.m.
The press conference was also attended by Senior Sports Officer Dilip Singh, Sports Officer Shashank Kulshrestha, Sports Secretary Radheshyam Shukla, and Anirudh Sarvate.
