A tree plantation program was organized at the Nagpur City Police Headquarters on Monday, September 23, 2024, under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, which is part of the National Water Mission of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. The event was inaugurated by Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, who emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and responsible water usage.
During his address, CP Singal spoke about the vital role trees play in maintaining ecological balance and protecting the environment. “Trees provide us with a continuous and selfless supply of oxygen throughout their lifetime. They help maintain the ecological balance, prevent soil erosion, reduce air pollution, and regulate the natural temperature,” he said. He also urged everyone present to not only plant trees but to take collective responsibility for their protection and care to ensure long-term environmental benefits.
The plantation drive was conducted in collaboration with Ameya Sathe, Chief Executive Officer of Government Tel.com. Commissioner Singal expressed his gratitude to Sathe for his support and looked forward to similar initiatives aimed at promoting environmental conservation in the future.
Several officers, including Reserve Police Inspectors, newly recruited personnel, and other staff from the police headquarters, participated in the event, showcasing the collective commitment of the police force towards environmental sustainability.
