The Regional Meteorological Centre has announced a yellow alert for Nagpur and all districts of Vidarbha, effective from Tuesday through Friday, predicting thunderstorms, lightning, and rainfall. This alert is expected to bring much-needed relief to residents who have been enduring heat and a humid atmosphere over the past few days.
Last year’s torrential rains resulted in significant disruptions in Nagpur, particularly on September 23, when water surged into homes in West Nagpur and low-lying areas, causing considerable hardships for the local population. This year’s weather, which has featured only light rains accompanied by lightning, has left citizens on edge, recalling the challenges faced during last year’s deluge.
Fortunately, the skies cleared today, and while the city experienced a day temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius, many residents reported discomfort due to the prevailing humidity. The upcoming alert may offer a glimmer of hope for cooler conditions, as citizens await the forecasted rainfall.
