Dr Subhash Chaudhatri, Vice Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University passed away on Thursday morning.
Dr Chaudhari was suffering from liver related problems at Nagpur’s Kingsway Hospital. He was under suspension for alleged corruption and misconduct as the VC. He was being treated at a private hospital in Nagpur for serious problems related to his liver.
Born on May 18, 1965, Dr Chaudhari graduated in Civil Engineering and acquired a master’s degree and PhD. He was appointed the VC of RTM Nagpur University on August 8, 2020. He successfully conducted examinations and other activities during the Covid-19 pandemic period and also was at the helm of affairs during the Indian Science Congress 2023 hosted by the university.
Dr Chaudhari was suspended by the Chancellor and Governor on February 21, 2024 with charges of violating the university rules. The court, however, had termed his suspension illegal as proper procedure was not followed. Dr Chaudhari assumed the charge as RTMNU’s VC on April 11. Another enquiry was conducted against him and he was suspended again on July 4, 2024. The enquiry against him was conducted by Deputy Secretary Ashook Mande.
Meanwhile, Dr Chaudhari’s health conditions deteriorated. The decision to shift him to Mumbai for advanced treatment also suffered due to the non-availability of air ambulance. He breathed his last on Thursday morning.
Dr Chaudhari is survived by his wife and a daughter. The last rites will be performed on Thursday evening.
