A school van caught fire in Jijamata Nagar early Thursday morning while on its way to pick up children for school. Thankfully, there were no students inside the van at the time. Fire officials reported that the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s fire and emergency services responded quickly to the call received at 5:45 AM. The Kalamna Fire Station team was sent out and arrived at the scene by 5:52 AM.
The van, with registration number MH 31 DS 4921, was getting ready to pick up students when it suddenly caught fire. Fire officer Tushar Barahate confirmed that no injuries occurred since the vehicle was empty. The van, owned by Kamlesh Tulsiram Kale from Ramkrishna Nagar, Nagpur, sustained severe damage, with losses estimated at 2.5 lakh. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, and authorities have not yet confirmed if the van had the required fitness certificate from the regional transport department. Personnel from Wathoda Police Station, including the Police Inspector, were present to assist and investigate the incident.
