Sonegaon Police have registered a case against two students of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on charges of ragging. The accused, Divyanshu Rathod and Aman Ahlawat, both from the 2021 BSc Medical Laboratory Technology batch, were booked following a complaint by fellow student Ansh Kumar.
According to police reports, on the night of September 21 around 9:30 p.m., Ansh Kumar was taken to his room in Keshav Hostel, where he was subjected to aggressive questioning and threats by Rathod and Ahlawat. Kumar’s cries for help alerted other students, who intervened to assist him.
Ansh Kumar lodged a complaint with the AIIMS Anti-Ragging Committee on September 23. Sachin Ramesh Choudhary, a committee member, conducted an inquiry, which found Rathod and Ahlawat guilty of ragging. A formal complaint was then filed with the Sonegaon Police, who registered a case under the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act of 1999 and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
A police official stated that an inquiry into the matter is underway, and appropriate action will follow.
