According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, will host a “Divisional Level Festival” (Festival for the Promotion of Extinct Folk and Tribal Arts) from October 2 to October 4, 2024, at 6:30 PM. Given the possibility of rain, the event will be held in the multipurpose hall of the center’s premises.
This festival will showcase traditional, folk, and tribal arts from the Nagpur division, including some endangered folk and tribal art forms. The objective of the festival is to promote and disseminate regional arts. As per the directives of the Ministry of Culture, similar programs are being organized in various divisions across the country.
The inauguration of the festival will take place on October 2, 2024, at 6:30 PM, with Honourable Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, as the chief guest. Other distinguished guests include Dr. Vipin Itankar, IAS, the District Collector of Nagpur city, Mr. Abhijit Chaudhary, IAS, the Municipal Commissioner, former Director of the Center and Police Commissioner of Nagpur city, Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singhal, IPS, and special guests Mr. Madan Pandey, a senior classical dance guru, and Mr. Pramod Babu Ramteke, a senior painting artist.
In this festival held in the Nagpur division, there will also be a painting exhibition featuring some endangered folk and tribal paintings, which art-loving citizens can enjoy.
From October 2 to October 4, 2024, there will be beautiful presentations of traditional folk songs and dances, such as Powada, Gondhal, Khadi Gammat, Dandar, Gan Gawlan, Dahaka, Lavani, Koli, Chitkor, Gondhi, Rela, Lingo, Nakal, and Khapri, starting at 6:30 PM. The painting exhibition will be open for viewing from 11 AM to 8 PM.
This event is free of charge. The in-charge director of the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, Mr. K. K. Gopalakrishnan, has invited the audience to attend in large numbers to enjoy the event and make it a success.
