The Maharashtra Government has decided to acquire the Medical College at Nashik, which so far has been run by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). The decision on Monday was taken to remove difficulties in administration due to dual control.
The Medical College with an intake capacity of 100 students for the MBBS course attacked to a 430-bed hospital was sanctioned in 2021. The medical college will now be called Government Medical College, Nashik.
The Maharashtra Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Institute (MPGIMER), Nashik will be under the control of the MUHS. The government has sanctioned Rs 632.97 crores for the hospital attached to this Institute.
