A mild earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale struck Maharashtra’s Amravati district on Monday afternoon, the State Disaster Management informed. The quake occurred at 1:37 PM, with tremors felt in several areas across the district.
The affected areas include Chikhaldara, Katkumbh, Churni, Pachdongri talukas, and the Melghat region. Tremors were also experienced in parts of Paratwada city, Dharni, and Akot areas, as confirmed by Amravati’s Resident Deputy Collector, Anil Bhatkar.
Fortunately, no casualties or significant damage have been reported so far. Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and stay alert to any further updates.
The State Disaster Management shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Mild earthquake: Amravati. Tremors measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale were felt at 1:37 PM today (30th September) near Amravati: National Center for Seismology. Citizens are requested to remain calm.”
