The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is preparing to accommodate thousands of devotees for the Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebrations on October 12, coinciding with Dussehra. The event commemorates Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s conversion to Buddhism on October 14, 1956, which also fell on Dussehra.
NMC has allocated ₹39 lakh for facilities at Deekshabhoomi, including waterproof pandals, chairs, mobile toilets, and drinking water arrangements. The initial setup will last for three days, with the option to extend it based on the number of devotees staying beyond October 14.
Traffic management will involve wooden barricades, coordinated with the police. Meanwhile, the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has completed backfilling work on a parking facility, resolving earlier construction delays in time for the event.
