Nagpur police have initiated a crackdown on dhabas located on the outskirts of the city for selling liquor without permission after midnight. The operation targeted five restaurants and dhabas in zones 1 and 4, with actions taking place under the jurisdictions of Hudkeshwar, Beltarodi, and Hingna police stations.
The police received information that several dhabas were staying open past midnight and illegally serving alcohol to customers without permits. Acting on tips from informants, the police verified the claims and found them to be true. As a result, they planned raids at the identified locations.
Around 12:30 am on Monday night, police teams from Hudkeshwar police station raided three establishments along the Outer Ring Road: ‘The Next World Family Restaurant,’ ‘Ladducha Dhaba,’ and ‘The Legend.’ At the same time, Nandanvan police raided ‘Samadhan Family Garden Restaurant’ near the Panjri Toll Plaza, while Hingna police took action against ‘Gurukrupa Saoji Restaurant’ in their jurisdiction.
Cases have been registered against the owners of all the dhabas and restaurants involved. It is known that many establishments along the city’s borders engage in similar illegal liquor sales, often attracting antisocial elements. Despite this, local police frequently overlook these activities and only take action when complaints are escalated to higher authorities.
