Two major flyovers on Kamptee Road and Wadi are set to be officially inaugurated on October 5. While the Wadi Road flyover is already operational following court orders, the Kamptee Road flyover is receiving final touches before the formal event.
The 5.6 km Kamptee Road flyover, the longest double-decker in Nagpur, began construction in November 2017 and took four years to complete. Originally a National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project, it was later merged with Maha Metro’s initiatives.
Meanwhile, the 3.14 km Wardha Road flyover, already listed in the Asia and India Book of Records, will soon be surpassed by the Kamptee Road flyover. The Wadi Road flyover, 2.3 km long, is currently easing traffic at five intersections, including the critical Hingna “T” Point.
Both flyovers are expected to greatly reduce traffic congestion on these busy routes.
