Nagpur policemen along with two of their colleagues, demanded a ransom of 15 lakhs from a Mumbai-based builder. On the complaint of police registered a case against four accused and arrested both the policemen. Two are still absconding.
The accused have been identified as Gaurav Purushottam Parle, Rajesh Uttamrao Hivarale, Akash Raju Gwalvanshi and Vikrant. The accused Gaurav Parle and Rajesh Hivarale are posted as Beat-marshals at the city’s Bajaj nagar police station.
According to the information received, the complainant Ajay Waghmare is a resident of Navi Mumbai and a builder by profession. He had come to Nagpur on Monday to hold a meeting with his customers regarding development of purchase and sale. He was going to the meeting in the Hudkeshwar with his friend Dilip Nikhare in the car.
At the same time, an Innova car stopped in front of his car, from which a young man reached and told him that our sir is sitting in the car and wants to talk to you. Ajay got down from the car and went to sit in the car of the accused. Four people named accused policemen Gaurav Parale, Rajesh Hivarale, Akash Gwalvanshi and Vikrant were sitting in this car.
As soon as Ajay was made to sit in the car, the accused took away his mobile phone and purse and said that a complaint of 20 crore rupees has come against you and to avoid this you will have to pay 15 lakh rupees.
After this, Ajay reached Hudkeshwar police station and lodged a complaint. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police took immediate action and arrested policemen Gaurav and Rajesh. And is searching for their two companions. Both these policemen are working as beat-marshals in Bajaj Nagar police station.
This is not the first time that Nagpur policemen have been arrested on charges of such extortion. Earlier this year, a similar case came to light where two beat- marshals posted at Wathoda police station robbed a taxi rider. After the case came to light, strict action was taken against both of them. A few days ago, a policeman was caught gambling in uniform, after which suspension action was taken.
