A 25-year-old hotel cashier has been apprehended for allegedly embezzling ₹12.33 lakh by manipulating billing records at a prominent hotel in Bajaj Nagar. The accused, identified as Gaurav Bandun Borkar, a resident of Vaishnodevi Nagar, Wathoda, reportedly altered customer bills over the course of more than a year.
The complaint was filed by Narayan Vitthalrao Vadatkar, 67, the owner of Uttar Dakshin Hotel near Mate Chowk, PNT Colony. Vadatkar, a resident of Chandika Nagar, Besa Road, claimed that between March 31, 2023, and June 5, 2024, Borkar had stolen the admin password of the hotel’s billing software, Captain Pad. By altering customer bills, Borkar allegedly underreported the amounts and pocketed the difference, which amounted to ₹12.33 lakh.
Following the complaint, Bajaj Nagar cops initiated an investigation. The accused has been charged under Sections 420 (cheating) and 408 (criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
