Commuters in the city are likely to face significant disruptions as employees of Aapli Bus Service have called for a strike starting Thursday, the first day of Navratri. The strike, backed by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), comes in response to unmet demands by the administration, according to the bus staff.
Workers from Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi have also voiced their support for the strike. Key demands include salaries in line with Local Self Government or Central Government 2024 GR, an independent mechanism for handling employee appeals, and bonuses under the Labour Act for the years 2017-2022.
With nearly 1 lakh daily commuters relying on Aapli buses, the strike is expected to cause considerable inconvenience, especially during the busy festive period.
