A juvenile boy was apprehended by Unit 3 of Nagpur Crime Branch for allegedly breaking into a mobile shop in Ganeshpeth by digging a hole in the wall and stealing ₹35,000 in cash and mobile phones. The total value of the stolen goods, including the phones, was estimated at ₹39,000. The incident took place on May 6, 2024, near Santra Market, behind Shaniwar Bazaar.
According to the complainant, Anil Dharmapath Yadav (45), the owner of the mobile shop, the break-in occurred after he had closed his shop for the day and returned home. The juvenile suspect created a hole in the back wall of the shop to gain entry and stole both cash and mobile phones.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Ganeshpeth Police registered a case under sections 457 (housebreaking) and 380 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
During a parallel investigation by Crime Branch Unit 3, officers, acting on reliable information and technical analysis, detained the juvenile in the presence of his parents. During questioning, the juvenile confessed to the crime.
The police recovered the stolen mobile phone, an Apple iPhone purchased using the stolen cash, and ₹4,000 in cash, amounting to approximately ₹33,000 in total recovered goods. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
