‘Birds of Nagpur’ is a wonderful compilation meticulously researched and curated by the students and teachers of Delhi Public School MIHAN and Kamptee Road, Nagpur. The book was formally unveiled and launched by Hon. Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways of India, during a ceremony attended by the budding authors and the Principals, Ms. Nidhi Yadav and Ms. Yogeeta Umalkar of MIHAN and Kamptee Road, respectively.
President and Pro-Vice Chairperson of DPS Kamptee and MIHAN, Ms. Tulika Kedia’s visionary leadership led to the extensive research on the avian wonders of Nagpur. She expressed her happiness on the occasion and congratulated both schools for their efforts towards appreciating Nagpur’s biodiversity. The director of both schools, Ms. Savita Jaiswal, applauded this initiative, stating that it would ignite a passion for birdwatching among budding ornithologists and the public at large, allowing them to bond with nature.
The team of students and teachers from both DPS Kamptee Road and DPS MIHAN, under the guidance of naturalist Mr. Shardul Bajikar, worked diligently to produce this impressive publication, which depicts the common birdlife of our city in a well-researched and aesthetically appealing manner. The book has been beautifully published.
The honourable minister commended the book’s educational value and its potential to inspire a deeper appreciation for avian species. He emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting endangered bird habitats and promoting eco-tourism.
