In a disturbing incident in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, four students have been arrested and taken into judicial custody for circulating an obscene video of a teacher and blackmailing her, police confirmed on Saturday.
The victim, a teacher at a school in Mathura, had been providing extra lessons to a struggling Class 10 student from Agra. According to reports from Amar Ujala, the student secretly recorded an obscene video of the teacher and later used it to coerce her into continuing a physical relationship. When the teacher attempted to distance herself by blocking his number, the student retaliated by sharing the video with three of his friends.
The friends further spread the video through WhatsApp and created an Instagram page to distribute the content, significantly amplifying the harassment. Feeling humiliated, the teacher initially contemplated suicide but sought help from the Mission Shakti Abhiyan centre, where she was encouraged to approach the police.
Agra Deputy Commissioner of Police Suraj Rai confirmed the arrests of the four accused and their presentation before the court. He also stated that authorities have been able to delete the video from several platforms, and strict legal action will be taken to ensure justice for the victim.
This incident follows another recent case in which two Class IX students were booked for using AI tools to create and distribute a fake obscene image of a female teacher, raising concerns about the increasing misuse of technology in such cases.
