Manoj Kumar Hanwate, a fake doctor who has been practicing illegally as a doctor since 2018, was booked by the Jaripatka police after a complaint by NMC’s zonal medical officer, Ateequr Rehman. Hanwate had falsely claimed to have a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery degree and had turned his home in Samta Nagar into a clinic, treating patients without a valid medical qualification. The case was filed after a detailed investigation.
The NMC health department found that Hanwate’s certificate was forged and obtained from Chhattisgarh. Further checks with the Maharashtra Council of Indian Medicine revealed that he was not registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council. After the complaint was filed, the police initiated a search for Hanwate, but he managed to flee before they could arrest him. The investigation is still ongoing.
