Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar, hosted the much-anticipated CENMUN 2024, a grand three-day Model United Nations conference. The event, held from October 4th to 6th, was a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering leadership, diplomacy, and collaboration among students. The conference saw over 1,000 participants from across the city engaging in dynamic simulations of 18 committees, like UNHRC, UNW, ECOSOC, to name a few.
The conference—right from its meticulous planning to the flawless execution—was planned and organized entirely by the Secretariat which comprised the students of classes 11 and 12. Their dedication, creativity, and leadership were the driving force behind CENMUN, showcasing not only their talent but also their ability to take on such a large-scale project with professionalism and passion.
The event kicked off with a grand inaugural ceremony on the evening of October 4th, graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Madhavi Khode Chaware, Additional Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur. In her inspiring speech, Dr. Chaware emphasized the importance of assertiveness, education, and humility while encouraging students to pursue knowledge and empathy in their endeavours.
The committee sessions held on October 5th and 6th were marked by intense debates and fruitful collaborations. With a wide range of global issues on the agenda, delegates demonstrated exceptional communication skills, negotiating with peers and proposing solutions to pressing world problems. The presence of experienced Executive Board members from across India further enhanced the learning experience, guiding students through critical discussions and fostering their leadership abilities.
One of the highlights of the 3-day conference was the minimal use of plastic as the school decided to align itself to the UN Sustainability goals.
The management of Centre Point School congratulated the student organizers for their impeccable execution and lauded the delegates for their enthusiasm and intellectual engagement. Through this event, students gained invaluable experience in debating, teamwork, communication, and leadership, paving the way for their growth as global citizens.
