In an effort to tackle chaotic parking and traffic congestion on key roads, the Nagpur Traffic Department has approved on-street parking at 11 locations across the city. The initiative aims to streamline vehicle parking and improve traffic flow in high-traffic areas.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Archit Chandak, issued a notification detailing the new parking model, which will be implemented on an experimental basis. The initiative includes designated parallel parking zones to manage vehicular movement more efficiently.
According to the notification, parallel parking will be allowed on the left side of the road between Orange City Square and RPTS Square. Both sides of the road will accommodate parallel parking from Mangalmurti Square to London Street. However, the stretch between Shankar Nagar Square and Laxmibhavan Square will only allow parking for two-wheelers.
Additional routes where parallel parking will be permitted on both sides include:
- Manewada Road to Tukdoji Square
- Tukdoji Square to Rajkamal Square
- Medical Square to the dead end
- Baidyanath Square to Ashok Square
- Bhande Plot Square to Jagnade Square
- Rani Durgavati Square to Marwadi Square
- Vaishnodevi Square to Prajapati Square
- Vaishnodevi Square to Shastri Nagar Square
This experimental model seeks to ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother vehicular movement across some of Nagpur’s busiest roads.
