Nagpur: In a major drive on October 8, 2024, the Nagpur Traffic Department conducted its most extensive operation in the last two years. This special campaign targeted traffic rule violators across all traffic zones under the Nagpur City Police Commissionerate, resulting in strict enforcement of the Motor Vehicles Act.
During the operation, authorities took action against the following violations:
- Riding without a helmet: 4,599 cases
- Driving on the wrong side: 51 cases
- Triple-seat riding on two-wheelers: 163 cases
- Jumping traffic signals: 158 cases
- Not wearing a seatbelt: 96 cases
- Use of black film on vehicle windows: 34 cases
- Failure to carry valid documents: 71 cases
- Overloading vehicles with passengers: 82 cases
- Disobeying traffic police instructions: 80 cases
- Entering no-entry zones: 42 cases
- Driving without a valid license: 24 cases
- Not stopping at stop lines: 46 cases
- Dangerous parking on public roads: 460 cases
- Other traffic violations: 447 cases
The crackdown led to a total of 6,353 offenders being penalized, with fines amounting to Rs. 63,86,350. Officials noted that this operation represents the largest action against traffic violations undertaken by the department in the past two years.
The Nagpur Traffic Department has announced that similar drives will continue in the future to ensure road safety and strict adherence to traffic laws. Motorists are urged to follow rules by wearing helmets, using seat belts, avoiding triple-seat riding, obeying traffic signals, and refraining from driving on the wrong side of the road to prevent accidents and promote a safer road environment.
