Several questions are being raised on the decision of MSRTC’s Ganeshpeth Depot Manager at Nagpur, who directed stationed at Akota to be brought to Nagpur and also carry passengers. The alert driver, when found problems in the bus at Badnera shifted the 20 passengers to another bus as soon as he noticed some problems in the bus.
The driver A R Lasulkar alone started driving the bus towards Nagpur. The bus number MH 06, BW 0903 caught fire after a tyre burst near Badnera Police Station. The fire soon spread engulfing the entire bus. The efforts of local people failed and by the time the fire brigade personnel reached the site the bus was completely burnt. Fortunately, there was no casualty, as the alert driver had shifted the passengers to another bus.
Assistant Transport Superintendent Bhumika Vaidya rushed to the spot. The Resident Depot Manager Vaishali Bhakre was not living in the headquarters and could not reach the accident site.
Questions on the use of very old buses by MSRTC are being raised. Why order to bring back the damaged bus from Akola bust depot ordered, that too with passengers? The bus was stranded at Akola Depot for the last two days.
