Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off a special train under the ‘Mukhyamantri Tirthdarshan Yojana,’ carrying around 800 senior citizens from Nagpur to holy sites in Ayodhya and Varanasi. Speaking at the event, Fadnavis highlighted the government’s efforts to make spiritual journeys accessible to citizens through this initiative.
The ‘Gaurav Bharat’ train departed from Nagpur Railway Station, adorned with flowers and traditional decorations, amidst chants of ‘Chalo Ayodhya.’ Officials, including Zilla Parishad President Mukta Kokarde and MLA Chandrashekhar Bawankule, were present at the send-off.
The pilgrims, all aged 60 or above, are set to visit Varanasi and Ayodhya, with their journey concluding on October 14 when they return to Nagpur. The scheme offers free pilgrimages to senior citizens, fulfilling their dream of visiting sacred sites across the country.
