On the occasion of Vijayadashami and Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din on Saturday, October 12, Nagpur city police intensified their efforts to curb illegal activities, registering 30 cases under various legal provisions. The crackdown led to 29 cases being filed under the Maharashtra Liquor Prohibition Act and one under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. A total of 30 individuals were apprehended, and contraband worth Rs 3,18,815 was seized.
The police also took action against gambling activities, registering two cases under the Gambling Act and apprehending seven individuals. Authorities seized gambling paraphernalia valued at Rs 4,220.
In a parallel operation, the Traffic Police Department targeted road rule violators, issuing challans to 3,206 vehicle drivers for various infractions under the Motor Vehicles Act. The total fines collected amounted to Rs 18,100.
