In a shocking incident on Saturday evening, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead in Mumbai’s Bandra East. Minutes after the incident, News18 obtained the first image of the three individuals who allegedly opened fire at Siddique.
Siddique, a former Congressman and Maharashtra minister, was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was declared dead. He had joined the Ajit Pawar-led NCP earlier this year in February.
The Mumbai Police have arrested two suspects, one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana. Both are currently being interrogated. However, the third suspect remains at large, with efforts underway to apprehend him. The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
Visuals of Siddique’s car show multiple bullet marks, confirming that he was inside the vehicle when the attackers fired at him. The shooting occurred outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office, near Colgate Ground in Nirmal Nagar. Zeeshan, an MLA from Bandra East, is a member of the Congress party.
The Mumbai police have formed five teams to investigate the case. Sources indicate that they are also examining a possible Boshnoi gang angle. A 9.9 mm pistol was reportedly used in the attack, raising suspicions of a contract killing.
