Passengers traveling to villages during the upcoming Diwali season via Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses will experience a 10% fare increase. The hike, effective from October 25 to November 25, is aimed at managing the expected surge in demand during the festive season, particularly around Diwali and Bhai Dooj.
MSRTC officials anticipate a significant rise in passengers traveling to their hometowns to celebrate with family and relatives, leading to crowded bus stands, especially in rural areas.
To cope with the increased demand and manage operational costs, MSRTC has introduced this temporary fare adjustment. Shrikant Gabhane, the regional manager of MSRTC, confirmed that fares will return to normal once the festive season concludes.
