A fraud case has been registered at Pachpaoli Police Station after a woman was cheated out of ₹4.49 lakhs under the pretense of securing a liver donor for her critically ill brother. The victim, identified as Shweta Suresh Dubey, 39, a resident of Mehndibagh, Pachpaoli, had been desperately seeking a liver donor for her brother, who is suffering from a severe liver condition.
The alleged fraud took place between April 23, 2023, and January 25, 2024. Shweta was introduced to the accused, Sandeep Shivdas Koche, 42, a resident of Indora, Jaripatka, Nagpur, who promised to arrange a liver donor in exchange for ₹4,49,000. Trusting his claims, Shweta handed over the amount in hopes of securing the much-needed donor for her brother. However, after receiving the money, the accused failed to provide a donor.
When Shweta requested her money back, Sandeep refused, verbally abused her, and threatened her, further worsening her ordeal. Betrayed and financially devastated, Shweta approached the police to report the fraud.
Based on her complaint, Pachpaoli Police have registered a case against Sandeep Koche under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
