Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary inaugurated an automatic wheat roti-making machine
Under the guidance of Srila Lokanath Swami Maharaj, a cherished disciple of Srila Prabhupada, the founder Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary inaugurated an automatic wheat roti-making machine at Smt. Swarnlata and Shri Govind Dasji Sarraf (Tumsarwale) centralized kitchen, located on Ramanuja Nagar, Kalamna Market Bharatwada Road Nagpur
Upon entering the kitchen, Dr. Chaudhary was warmly welcomed by Annamrita Foundation Nagpur Chairman Dr. Shyamsunder Sharma and Dr. Madhusudan Sarda, who presented him with a bouquet of flowers. Following this, he had the opportunity to pay his respects to Shri Jagannath, Baldev, and Subhadra Maharani. Annamrita Foundation Nagpur’s manager, Rajendran Raman, provided insights into the kitchen’s storage facilities, emphasizing that all spices are thoroughly cleaned and ground to preserve their quality. Project directors Bhagirath Das and Praveen Sahni shared details about the steam cooking process for dal and rice, ensuring that their nutritional value is maintained.
Dr. Chaudhary initiated the roti-making machine by first making a swastika on it, performing a worship ceremony, and conducting an aarti with camphor on a coconut, which he then broke. He formally inaugurated the machine by pressing a button and expressed his delight at the quality of the chapatis produced. He also honored Shybu Varghese, the CSR head of Pix Transmission Limited—the donor of the roti-making machine—by presenting him with a bouquet.
Annamrita’s Manager Rajendra Raman noted that roti had not previously been included in the school nutrition diet. This initiative will enhance the taste of children’s meals, with roti and vegetables being provided once a month. As donor support increases, the frequency of roti distribution may expand. Currently, dal, rice, and khichdi are served daily. On behalf of Annamrita, hot dal, rice, roti, vegetables, and occasional sweets are provided to patients’ relatives every day at Medical College, Super Specialty Hospital, Tukdoji Cancer Hospital, Swami Vivekanand Heart Hospital, AIIMS MIHAN, and SIMS Bajaj Nagar.
