Record-Breaking Action in the Last Two Years
Nagpur: In a significant move to enforce traffic discipline, the Nagpur Traffic Police launched a major crackdown on Thursday, penalizing 548 motorists for signal jumping—the highest number of such violations recorded in a single day over the past two years.
On October 17, Nagpur witnessed its most extensive traffic enforcement operation, with 548 signal jumpers fined in a single day. In addition to these, 6,440 cases were registered for other traffic violations, bringing the total number of offenders to 6,988.
The combined penalties from these violations amounted to Rs 71.22 lakh, making it one of the most significant actions against traffic rule violators in recent memory.
Officials stated that the October 17 operation was just the beginning of a series of targeted initiatives to curb traffic violations in the city.
