The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water (OCW) have scheduled a 30-hour water supply shutdown starting at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 21, 2024. The shutdown is necessary for the replacement of a 40-meter section of an 800mm MS (Mild Steel) pipeline located near Ramjhula, close to the Nagpur Railway Station.
This section of the pipeline, which serves as the outlet for the Sitabuldi Fort-1 Ground Service Reservoir (GSR), has severely deteriorated and is beyond repair.
Currently, the pipeline runs through a drainage system and is submerged during the rainy season, leading to frequent issues. The replacement work will involve installing a new pipeline at a higher level, away from the drain water, ensuring an uninterrupted and improved supply of potable water to the Sitabuldi Fort-1 command area.
