A community of art enthusiasts in Nagpur has come together to establish the ‘Nagpur Cultural Society,’ aiming to create a platform for diverse art forms like singing, dancing, literature, visual arts, and theatre. The official launch is scheduled for December 1.
The grand launch event at the historic Sitabuldi Fort will feature a performance by the renowned Kathak dance troupe from STEM Dance Kampni, Bangalore.
Natya STEM Dance Kampni, one of India’s leading dance companies, blends traditional and contemporary Indian dance. Led by Madhu Nataraj—mentor, choreographer, and artpreneur—the troupe has performed over 300 choreographies across 36 countries.
Announcing this at a press conference, NCS President Rina Sinha emphasized that the society’s uniqueness lies in its goals and vision.
“NCS would arrange various art and culture-related events, suchas exhibitions, shows, and festivals, to celebrate the rich- ness and diversity of culture. It would collaborate with local artists and cultural institutions to create opportunities for cul- tural exchange,” she said.
The society’s Secretary, Anuja Sharma, stated that with its launch, Nagpur will gain recognition not only as the city of oranges and tigers but also as a vibrant cultural hub of India.
NCS will partner with educational institutions to promote art and cultural activities, provide resources to support talented artists, and foster the growth of the arts. Rajiv Choudhary, Pradeep Agrawal, Dr. Ajay Sood, Dr. Anita Sood, and Ashok Daga were also present.
