In light of the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has finalized its winter examination timetable, ensuring that exam dates do not coincide with polling.
RTMNU began conducting exams for ex-students of semesters 2, 4, 6, and 8 on October 15, with these exams scheduled to conclude by November 15. The regular winter examinations were initially set to begin on November 16, but the university has made adjustments to avoid overlap with election activities.
“In view of the elections, we have rescheduled the start of regular winter exams for November 11 instead of November 16,” said Dr. Sanjay Kavishwar, Dean of Commerce and Management and Director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation. “Semesters 1, 3, 5, and 7 of professional courses will be held from November 11 to 18, covering fewer students compared to other exams. As most of our examination centers will be used as polling stations, we have planned a break from November 19 to 23, with elections on November 20 and vote counting on November 23. Our convocation is scheduled for November 22, and exams will resume from November 23.”
A preparatory meeting with Principals and Center Officers was held at the Examination Bhawan to discuss the winter exam process. The exams will be conducted at 136 centers, and RTMNU aims to declare the results by December 31. Examinations for professional courses, whose admissions are still ongoing, will be held in January 2025. Dr. Kavishwar emphasized that all examination centers must ensure a smooth experience for students, with a student-focused approach throughout the process.
