The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has responded seriously to a complaint regarding the Jaripatka flyover, which is obstructing residents’ access to their homes and forcing them to take longer routes. The court has ordered the state government to submit a response by November 13.
While hearing a public interest litigation from resident Ramesh Wankhede, a division bench of Justice Nitin Sambre and Justice Vrishali Joshi directed the state government to provide a response on the matter.
During the hearing of a public interest litigation filed by resident Ramesh Wankhede, a division bench made up of Justice Nitin Sambre and Justice Vrishali Joshi instructed the state government to address the issue.
The petitioner has requested the correction of alleged technical errors in the Jaripatka road-over-bridge (ROB) and the Mecosabagh flyover project associated with the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDI).
Initially, the state government approved only the National Academy of Direct Taxes for the Jaripatka road-over-bridge (ROB) project. Later, the original plan was revised to incorporate the Mecosabagh-CMPDI flyover. The two bridges are intended to intersect at a roundabout that will be constructed on the flyover in the future.
The petitioner has expressed concerns that the intersection could become a hotspot for accidents due to the heavy and fast traffic it would encounter. Additionally, they have challenged the design of the road-over-bridge’s landing on the Jaripatka side.
The petitioner has raised concerns about potential traffic congestion and a high risk of accidents in the area. Advocate Shashi Bhushan Wahane represented the petitioner in the matter.
