Supreme Court on Thursday permitted Ajit Pawar’s NCP to keep the clock symbol for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly election. However, the court instructed the political party to use the symbol alongside a disclaimer.
The Supreme Court instructed Pawar to submit a new undertaking regarding its March 19 and April 4 directives to issue a public notice stating that the “NCP’s ‘clock’ symbol is sub judice,” ensuring that this notice is strictly followed during the state assembly elections.
The Supreme Court was hearing a plea from the Sharad Pawar faction, which alleged that the Ajit Pawar-led group was not complying with the court’s order. A three-judge bench, led by Justice Surya Kant, issued a notice to the deputy chief minister and others, requesting their responses to the plea.
