In a move to curb public disturbances, Nagpur’s Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ravinder Singal, has issued an order barring groups of beggars from gathering at traffic junctions, sidewalks, and other public areas in the city. Effective from October 29 to December 27, 2024, the directive prohibits solicitation and unauthorized occupation at these sites, following reports of individuals harassing motorists and pedestrians for money.
Violators will face legal action under Section 223 of the BNSS, 2023, and additional laws. Notices of the ban will be displayed across various public offices and the Nagpur Police website. Citizens can submit any objections via email or directly at Police Bhavan in Civil Lines.
