Nagpur police have arrested Jagdish Uikey, a 35-year-old man from Gondia, for allegedly issuing multiple hoax bomb threats to Indian airline flights this month, leading to widespread panic, flight delays, and increased security at airports.
Uikey, an author on terrorism previously arrested in a 2021 case, allegedly sent emails to the Prime Minister’s Office, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and other officials, claiming he had deciphered a “terror code” to predict bombings. He demanded a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Fadnavis, threatening protests if denied.
The threats also extended to the Railway Minister and the Railway Protection Force, prompting heightened security at railway stations. More than 300 flights faced similar threats this month, mostly issued through social media, according to authorities.
